School Counseling Program Basics
Classroom Lessons
I visit each class several times throughout the year to teach lessons on self awareness, social awareness, and personal safety.
The Park Hill Counseling Curriculum can be found here or by scrolling down to the helpful links section. I work with each classroom teacher to incorporate real life challenges and skills that students experience throughout their day so that students can make meaningful connections to the content.
Small Group Support
I work with teachers and families to identify students that would benefit from receiving focused support in small groups of 3-5 of their peers that might be experiencing similar challenges. The focus of these groups ties to academic and social success so that school is a successful experience for each student everyday.
Individual Support
I provide brief counseling that is focused on developing skills and implementing solutions to address barriers to academic and social success at school. Brief counseling lasts 4-6 weeks and is followed by a referral to a community mental health clinician if further support is necessary.
